A quick generic storyline for yuri manga

I’ve read a lot, A LOT of yuri manga, and with rare exceptions with long or at least more elaborated stories, they pretty much follow one of several routes

1.- Girl A is popular with boys/men, girl B doesn’t think any of this, she somehow ends up alone with girl A on dressing room/workplace/a pub/etc, girl A says she notices how girl B always stare, they kiss, they are super horny, they have sex, not before one or both claim “this is embarrassing” “I feel the same” “you are so lewd” “do lewd things to me”

There’s a variation for the above with “I love you and always have”, “omg me too”, “Ok accept my feelings” –> they have passionate, earth shaking, crazy hot love making for hours with like 10 orgasms.

This applies mostly to one shots, cos on longer ones, they first have to struggle with “being both girls” and “how/what do two girls do” Come on, think a bit, what do you think can be done? so little imagination, good gods!!

Hanebado / Anime + Manga

I had been unsure about watching this anime, badminton? so exciting…also who I thought was the MC was a sporty, tall, short-haired tomboy, totally not my line of anime MC..BUT THEN, Ayano Hanesaki-san appeared!!! she’s a naturally gifted, super gifted badminton player who for some reason doesn’t want to join the school’s club. We have the hard working player, Nagisa ( short haired tomboy), Riko with glasses, she’s awesome cos she isn’t so fit but she’s clever and can work out strategies pretty good. We have Hanesaki’s old rivals, like Karaouko (? spelling) and Connie…the mysterious blond foreigner from Denkmark!

The anime is SO DRAMATIC, I like it, but it was like, whoa people, this is such a soap opera.

Me being me, I moved onto looking for the manga, since I read that they changed things a lot. Was this true?

SPOILER AHEAD, or not, depending on how they keep the anime, but better don’t read this unless you read the manga or read if you don’t care.

Hanesaki is a fucking beast, she goes into what I call “badminton can’t lose or I’ll lose my mom again” mode, her eyes literally go entirely dark and she’s just, it’s like a demon playing, seriously. She is all cheerful, ( this is the manga, in the anime she’s fucking emo lol ) but when she is for real oh boy…

They don’t, or haven’t shown how good she is on the anime!! why?? She’s climbing up,NO, she’s wall-running a fucking tree on the very first pages of the manga,  RUNNING UP A TREE,to get something stuck there, in the anime she has only once stopped a ball, which was SWEET but still, in the manga she’s a total maniac.

At least now in anime she seems to have changed..well she got pretty fucking weird and got those eyes…we’ll have to wait and see. Loving the anime so far, the anime is beautiful, wish it was closer to the original, but that would take longer I guess.

Seikon no Qwaser (Manga)

I was wrong, the manga starts off sorta meh BUT it does get so, so, so, so much better than I could had ever imagined, surely there’s a lot of breasts cos holy milk duh! But it’s not merely fanservice, most nude scenes are..well not what I’d call sexy ( we do get so see more of Katja’s special treatment for Hana woot) but she also gets on with other women, which I didn’t like so much, but being the empress and all, I guess it’s fine.

I see now why the second season of the anime ended like that, it’s a shame there’s no third season or a movie, the material after that is AWESOME, it’s when shit gets really interesting.

Hana even gets some weird electric power, come on, animate that!!!!!

So, I did like the anime cos it had more Hana and Katja but the manga story is so interesting past where Sasha and Hana infiltrate that school, damn.

Seikon no qwaser Anime / Manga

Yes, I’m aware this has been out for like a good while now, but I always thought it was only silly ecchi not worth my time. I decided to check out both the manga and the anime for several reasons… ok I remembered there was a lolicon lesbian in there somewhere.. I had to see wtf was that about ok? lol, ah sure, spoilers ahead!!! 

First the boring, the manga

Ok, as it usually goes with ecchi stuff, the manga aka source material is far less fanservicey ( looking at you Rosario + Vampire), I didn’t read the whole thing, I sorta flipped through it, there’s Katja (dat Russian sadist loli) and Hana of course ( the pedo lesbian masochist rofl ) but it’s much less hmm,what word to use… in your face we could say, so the story is meh ok, souma, holy stuff coming outta girl’s breasts, blah blah elements blah blah religion

Now the fun part, the anime

Well , I had read it was heavily censored with all the breast sucking scenes but… the powers lie within the souma thing, which is like breast milk, holy something, what sense could it possibly make to have an anime where the part of said holy milk sucking is censored? Very little I tell you.

Anyway, we get some pantsu shots, lots of breasts, breast sucking, breast groping, you get the idea and of course we have the lesbian lolicon, oh boy that.. scene on episode 4, she literally licks on  Ekaterina eh Katja’s tender place.. it makes me eew thinking she’s like 10 years old and Hana is.. how old is she? 16? Ah she’s 15, ok it’s not that bad…ok it is but Katja looks like 12… would that actually qualify as pedo time?  *wonders* Anyway, the Russian loli is creepy enough to make the whole thing not so disgusting.. I am totally not sure if that’s good or bad…Plus it’s really more like a BDSM thing between them…Hana is the slave, hmm confusing ethics ftw

So, I am sorta fast forwarding through the anime, it does have funny moments, I’ll give you that, but honestly I only like big epic battles, when there’s Katja + Hana moments and when other psycho, mentally unstable people come in, I said other cos pretty much everyone here is a damn sadist or a sick masochist so..yeah sorta appealing ha ha. No, really.

Now, besides that weird ass relationship, I did like the whole alchemy, religious themed story, it’s not the greatest thing ever made but it’s fun enough, cringe-inducing tho, cos some people are really.. .Eva-Q and Eva-R…  *shivers* and then there’s that girl with the dissociative personality disorder , you get what I mean.

Watch/read, or don’t, your call!

 

Tomie ( manga/ Unlimited )

Ah, behold the masterpiece of Junji Ito-sensei: Tomie! Which is pronounced Tomi-e Not “Tommy” as I thought, lol.  Ok some may say Uzumaki is his masterpiece, but I happen to love the idea of this annoying, selfish, maniac, woman who just won’t freaking die, more so, she will come back and expand and multiply.

So I was watching episode 9 of the Junji Ito collection anime and I saw this so beautiful girl with a mole under her left eye… who could that be I wondered…? TOMI-E of course!!! They surely waited an awful long time to animate a Tomie chapter, I guess that’s normal since she has a lot. of material. It was a very nice one and it made me want to read the manga, so I read all the chapters I could find translated , then I remembered there were movies…9, so yes I’ll have to watch those as well.

The plot is Tomie is INCREDIBLE beautiful and men go mad for her, literally insane and wish to murder her, which is not a problem cos she can heal, regenerate and multiply just fine, this of course makes for quite interesting stories.

I started with the last movie it seems, it’s called Tomie Unlimited, sounds like a cool brand name..haha, I gotta say she’s my favorite actress so far, cos she’s very similar to the animated Tomie from today’s episode in Juni Itto collection, take a look!

See that??? Isn’t she nailing the character? Omg and the voice and the acting, I read some comments saying the movie was stupid but..come on, it’s a damn load of body horror, quite hard to achieve without some heavy CGI, plus the animated hmm “stages” of Tomie are faithful to the illustrations in the manga, so shush people! and I usually don’t say this about women, not specially Asian women, but this one actress, Miu Nakamura, at least in this one movie, is one of the hottest girls I’ve laid eyes on . Damn sexy, a bit scary tho, ah dreamy!!

 

I’ll watch the other movies later on and add reviews, for now, don’t miss this one movie, I obviously loved it.

Each movie has a different actress playing Tomie, which makes it for a very variated pallete of faces and strokes for the character.

Another interesting fact, in the manga Tomie is pretty much straight, but the movie version seems to swing both ways and is even nicer with her female “friends” slaves, lovers, or whatever they are.

 

Tachibanakan Triangle or Tachibanakan love to lie angle ( manga )

What is with that title? Seriously, choose one people!!

I honestly forgot about this one cos when I was reading it it was my “read all the yuri manga” week, so I legit, finished every title that was existing on Dynasty Scans . I think this one  had only few chapters out and maybe I dropped it cos of that, a short haired protagonist and the fact it was pointless ecchi/harem.

But now, older and wiser, I don’t mind short haired girls, although still not my favorite, but this has all that cliché harem titles can ask for, an indecisive MC, an old childhood friend , more on the pure side and a sexy temptation, or as the childhood friend would put it “erotic girl” and background loud older women.

It’s silly yes, but somehow it’s heartwarming, specially the backstory of Yoriko-oneechan and Yuu ( I’m so shipping those 2 morons) and well, childhood friend is cute and it seems MC might be leading towards her, although erotic girl is quite straightforward.

I am not sure who am I rooting for at this point, I usually focus on back characters in harem cos they might get some sort of closure-like, MC usually ends in “let’s all live together like this whole time” ugh. But the anime might be funny and well, yuri ecchi…yuri harem…we’ve come a long way, back in my day I had to feel the doki doki with Mariasama for crying out loud! Lately we’ve had Sakura trick! Strawberry panic!, CITRUS good lord! Actual legit yuri is making it’s way. So happy. Sniff.

NicoMaki Anime VS all other media

I won’t make an extensive list or anything, for that and much better done, you can read this Les yay Love Live  so, having said that, I was reading an official love live diary or something and it was so cute.. I mean, let me tell you a little story first.

I first knew of the existence of NicoMaki by reading doujinshi by Sweet Pea aka Oshima Tomo,  it was so well drawn I thought “legit yuri series? what is this?”, I read ALL of them and more, but hers are the ones I like best to this day. Then I found out it was based on this “Love Live” so I thought “meh, surely there’s not much there”, I watched the whole thing and I found their interactions right on the tsundere spot, nothing too big to make a deal out of actually. Then I learned about the official manga and the games and the cd dramas and that awesome, awesome song they have together…

 

So, I learned that while it’s not yuri 100% it’s very strong subtext and that’s ok for them.

You must know by now I like my yuri strong, like coffee, my yuri goggles broke a while ago, so smiles and hand holding don’t do the trick much, I demand kisses and confessions and what not. But these 2 have enough to make me wonder what is really going on with them

An ungodly amount of lines and big letters aren’t enough to describe how spoilerish this post is, if you have been reading the manga, up to the chapter 36, you are welcome to read my writing on it, if not go check it out then come back hehe.

 

 

 

 

Ok you have been properly warned.

Citrus… I’ve been so delighted with the anime that I almost forgot about the manga…till the new translated chapter came out..I began to worry when I notice it was sort of a letter…and written in past tense..by Mei… she was incredibly well articulated ( considering how has she been honestly) with her feelings and how she came to fall for Yuzu..to let her know she had made her choice to take on this Aihara family legacy thing and get married ( cringe ) and to stop any contact with her…

I honestly was having a revolution inside, I had some actual feelings, like sadness and anguish and… well done Saburouta, you made me have an emotional connection with your characters, I deem that as a very important characteristic in an author, either if they do comics, manga, books, movies, I wanna feel something dammit.

So, I was upset at first, thinking that was the ending, cos, COME ON, how could it end like that!!! But I learned it’s not, now we aren’t sure how this will solve, maybe Mei’s fiancé ,who knows Yuzu likes someone and you know, Mei asked him not to tell Yuzu about it..intervenes, maybe it’s Yuzu’s mom, or even in a more climatic way, it’s Shou, Mei’s dad, stepping in to free his daughter from this burden. I don’t think Yuzu crashes the wedding, that’d be too cliché, then again Citrus does have a shitload of clichés so who knows… In all, I am hopeful that it’ll have a happy ending, I mean, come on, it just can’t not end with them together. It could be too that Mei grows a massive pair of woman’s balls and decides to stop it at the last minute, cos some drama can’t hurt, CAN IT?

Actually.. it’s good the story is finally moving, we spent too long watching Mei feel uneasy and unable to express herself, so at least something is going on.

At some point, I thought maybe Matsuri would be good for Yuzu, not like she’s the greatest person on earth but I sorta rooted for her the 5 minutes that it seemed she could be a rival.

It was sweet to see Yuzu’s friends worried about her, cos she’s out there living (this chapter was a time skip, I’m unsure if it’s like 6 months or a year) specially  Shirapon when she notices she stills wears the ring she got for her and Mei (there are 2 rings)

So..in all, I was a bit sad to learn some people go as far as to wish death and illness upon authors when stories don’t go their way, someone mentioned Kodama..ehh NTR author got some serious hate (mostly from the western world) but you know, if you don’t like it, don’t read it, look for other things. I certainly didn’t like nTR but I waited till it ended and read the finale and it was ok, I looked for other works of her and she has some more positive ones, like Renai Manga, so don’t be mean to people, those people writing manga do their best and we all get to enjoy endless worlds and universes thanks to them. We should say thanks.

Nothing left but to keep enjoying all the anime, manga, movies and books that are out there till we know how this one ends, or if we like to, drop it, I won’t, I’m a bit too invested now, but I surely won’t pull my hair about it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What does the fox say? ( manwah)

I REFUSE to play the song as I write, so “No Lie” by Sean Paul Ft. Dua Lipa feels more like it.

I hope I typed “manwah” correctly, that is as you may know, Korean mangas, duh.  So this one… I started reading it cos, the drawing is pretty, I mean, the girls are fucking gorgeous ok? Look

So yes, shallow me fell for the looks, but come on! So, next the story develops, we learn quite quickly it’s a love triangle, a burden 10 years old and a lot of bottled up feelings, of course.

 

The new challenger is this lovely, angelical, true Hollywood like beauty, blond, innocent, a true virgin in all the sense of the word and she’s the image of “deadpan” she seriously , so good. That’s blondie aka Sungji

 

Sumin is the dark haired older beauty,  she’s this important person with many unsolved issues, I honestly have to say I love her to bits, even when she acted in ways less than healthy, we all been there somehow, or at least I have so I can’t throw my can at her.

 

Seju, the pink haired woman..atch, it’s sorta easy to hate on her at first, for being in the way of all…but it takes 2 for tango so… let’s just say it’s a rich and complex character, as humans are omg.

The love triangle may drag on for longer than needed but I liked how it wasn’t all solved in an unrealistic, easy, painless way. The art, again, is just what I dig, the humour is pure gold and overall it’s a great work, it’s finished now so I won’t spoil anything, please do go and read, expect  a lot of smut sex tho ( hooopla!! ) so maybe don’t read it at work. I usually don’t care much for sex in yuri manga but it’s usually borderline gross ( to be honest ) this tho…the way it’s drawn… it’s really classy and tasteful, plus it made me blush so lol it works.

I loved it also cos there wasn’t silly and unexpected men just being thrown for drama, these girls dig girls, they are true, real-life lesbians.  And it has the refreshing feeling of grown-up women, not teens who may or not may be so sure about what they like. Go team Gaji!! ( I think it’s a woman behind this, or 2, or there is a woman somewhere, extra points for that)

 

Kakeguri

 

I’m making a quick post today, haven’t written in a while, I scored this awesome translation job and I’ve been rushing through it to buy a new PC, anyway, let’s get right to it.

I saw this title on the upcoming anime lists, it seemed interesting and a bit psycho, boy it is much more than that, I watched the first episode and I was here, with my eyes wide open and squealing like a damn fan girl that I am.  I then learned there was a manga, so being the nice person I am I found it and read the available chapters in 2 sittings, it’s been one of the most delightful mangas ever, fanservice yeah some, who cares, the real deal are the characters, Yumeko is absolutely insane about gambling! Who thought such a storyline could be so sexual?? I disliked Mary at first, but while reading the manga, man she’s really awesome, so is the secretary and the council president, of course Ikishima-san, the nutty with a gun, has to be mentioned cos,wtf, she really gets off with weird shit.

The more I learn about the characters the more I want to read the next chapter. The anime, in my opinion nailed it totally, the animation, the voices, specially when they lose it and become way too intense, it’s PERFECT as perfection can ever exist.

You can clearly see this is one of my favorite anime/manga at the moment..oh Gods the new season of Jigoku Shoujo..it only gets worse every episode and by worse I mean the characters are more despicable, thus making the series better and better.
